The TRAA's Silver Celebration!!
This will be the One Year Anniversary of the TRAA's 25th Anniversary!
Yes you read that right. The actual 25th Anniversary, originally scheduled for August 2011, snuck up on us and we weren't able to pull off a celebration so we decided to do it up right in 2012.
That's why we're starting to make plans now for a party deserving of all the accomplishments and history of the Thames River Anglers Association.
Fifteen years ago we pulled off a modest but nonetheless fun celebration for the TRAA's 10th anniversary. This was held at Fanshawe Conservation area and involved all the friends and families of the TRAA.
There were lots of activities for everyone including the kids, displays, tons of food and even a 10th birthday cake!
Ten years is a pretty impressive milestone and we had a nice party but now we're thinking that we should have a celebration that would be appropriate to the 25 years that the TRAA's been in existence.
Here are some of the ideas previously discussed for the 25th Anniversary party.
Carnival-style activities and games that are fish-related.
Fun competitions for all age groups such as casting accuracy & distance, wader relays, etc.
Really cool door prizes donated by area retailers, other clubs and individuals.
Displays by other area clubs and organizations who share our concern for the natural environment.
Guest speakers that might include famous fishing personalities or local celebrities.
Displays by area retailers who support the TRAA and our activities.
Fundraising activities that might include:
- Raffles for prizes
- 50/50 draws
- Sales of food and soft drinks
- Sales of outdoors-related items donated by area retailers, other clubs and individuals.
- Sales of TRAA gear and of course, memberships.
What can you do to help make this the success the TRAA deserves?
Two words: Get Involved.
A few of you would need to take on the organization of this celebration but you'd be supported by the TRAA executive and the rest of the membership.
When we say "the membership" we mean it! In order to pull this off we'll require a large number of TRAA members to help out. If everyone takes on a task, managed by a small "25th Anniversary Committee", it will come together.
